IMG_1267Kathleen Beckum, M.D. is a board certified Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist and a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology.


Dr. Beckum graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Honors College at University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Biology. She was inducted into Mortar Board Honor Society as well as Phi Beta Kappa.


Dr. Beckum graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine at the top of her class. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She fell in love with dermatology during her first year of medical school. She found her home in Birmingham when she accepted a dermatology residency position at the University of Alabama Birmingham.


Dr. Beckum exemplifies leadership in dermatology. She has lectured at local and national meetings. She has published in well known journals, including The Archives of Dermatology, The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology and JAMA Dermatology, to name a few. She also served as Chief Resident of the UAB Department of Dermatology from 2010-2011 with Dr. Marks.


With a passion for understanding dermatology, Dr. Beckum completed a Dermatopathology Fellowship at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She also studied dermatopathology at the University of California- San Francisco. Her knowledge of dermatopathology aids her in being an expert clinician.


Dr. Beckum served as Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Alabama Birmingham for three years. She lead a team of medical students, residents and fellows in Dermatology and Dermatopathology. She has expertise in skin disorders such as acne, eczema and psoriasis, as well as skin cancer treatment and prevention.


Dr. Beckum is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Alabama Dermatology Society.


Dr. Beckum is married to Will Beckum, an attorney at Beckum Kittle LLP. The Beckums reside in Hoover with their two young girls.
